A2A anniversary

According to Adrienne is one year older, and what better way to celebrate this milestone than with some self-reflection and a giveaway?

This month marks exactly two years since I launched According to Adrienne—can you believe it? It feels like just yesterday, that on whim, I created this platform and wrote my first blog post.

I’ve been looking forward to this blogversary, not only because it’s an achievement that I’m proud of but more importantly, because it’s a milestone. And with every milestone in life, it’s also an opportunity to look back on the journey that led me to this point.

A lot happened this last year, both around the world and in my own life: Against all odds and predictions, Donald Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States. I graduated from college, after dropping out of a master’s program just two years ago. Civil war continued in Syria. My dad was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm. Black lives continued to not matter.

To say the least, it was a roller coaster of a year. But there were also many opportunities for growth, reflection and of course, writing.

And write, is exactly what I did.

I continued contributing my articles to Huffington Post, a platform that I highly recommend all aspiring writers contribute to. I also began pitching freelance pieces to various online magazines, something I continue to do monthly (no luck yet, but it’ll come!). I even began interviewing sources again, something I hadn’t done since graduating from journalism school back in 2014.

And here at According to Adrienne, this momentum continued. In February, the blog switched domains to better reflect its growing audience. And of course, that same month, I launched the A2A subscription list!

While my first year of blogging was all about stepping out of my comfort zone, this year, my focus has been on growing the A2A platform and brand. Over the past 12 months, I’ve continued to learn insightful blogging tips and tricks, while also working to build valuable relationships with other writers. But perhaps most importantly, I’ve learned a lot about the importance of building and maintaining a professional brand, something I believe will prove of value in both my personal and professional life.

Looking ahead (year three!), I hope to build on these new teachings. There’s still much work for me to do and A2A has a long way to go, but I’m optimistic about what next year has in store for us.

So, about that giveaway…

According to Adrienne would be nothing without you! Over the last two years, you’ve continued to read, comment, like and share all of my posts, and I couldn’t be more grateful. As a small token of my appreciation, I’ll be giving away a free $25 Amazon gift card, as well as a copy of The Meaning of Michelle: 16 Writers on the Iconic First Lady and How her Journey Inspires Our Own.

To enter, simply subscribe to the A2A mailing list before May 31, and you’ll be automatically entered to win (you can find the subscription opt-in button on the upper right side of this post). The winner, chosen at random, will be announced on my Instagram and will also be notified by email.

This giveaway is only open to Canadian subscribers.

Good luck! And as always, this is just According to Adrienne.
